Our Mt. Rinjani Summit & Lake Trek is our most challenging hike. It’s a 3 day / 2 night trek that is best for travelers who want to see everything that Mt. Rinjani has to offer. This hike combines all the elements of the crater rim & summit hike, with the added bonus of decending to Lake Segara Anak and the natural hot springs.
This journey starts at your homestay in Senaru Village in North Lombok. You will stay one night at our homestay where dinner is served to you. You can adventure to nearby waterfalls in the evening if you’d like as well as see many monkeys.
In the morning, you will have breakfast & coffee at your homestay. You will then take a 1 hour drive to the town of Sembalun. The drive is a memory in itself as you ride in the back of a truck, wind in your hair, through the villages of Lombok.
You will begin your hike from Sembalun. Half way up the mountain we will have a filling lunch cooked by your porters. After that, we continue to the crater rim, which we will reach by mid-day. We will spend the evening at the crater rim where we will have dinner.
The following day, we wake up a 2:00am for a light breakfast and begin our journey to the summit around 2:30am. This is the most difficult part of the hike and will take a total of 4 hours to reach the summit. Once at the summit, you will notice that it is very cold! Most travelers only stay at the summit for a short time before decending.
The decent is much shorter and will only take 1-1/2 hours to return to the crater rim. You will then have a larger breakfast and take a short rest. After this, you will begin the 2nd part of the journey which is a 3 hour hike to Lake Segara Anak. We will take a short rest beside the lake and enjoy the thermal hot springs as well as lunch. After lunch, we leave the lake and continue to the Senaru crater rim where we will spend the night. The view from the Senaru Crater Rim is one of the most spectacular views of the entire trek.
On the final day, after having breakfast, you will decend through Senaru village through tropical rainforests. There are many monkeys and you might just possibly see the rare black monkey of Lombok. The entire hike on the last day takes about 5 hours, at which you arrive in Senaru. Transportation is provided from the trailhead back to the homestay. You will switch vehicles at our homestay and then get a ride back to the port/airport. If you plan to enjoy Senaru a bit longer, you can stay at our homestay as part of one of our other packages.
